Plans for a Harley-Davidson dealership in New Hyde Park have stalled after an initial public hearing in the fall, village officials said.

The application for the 16,000-square-foot two-story facility at 1324 Jericho Tpke. was first heard in October, and has been adjourned for months to allow time for both the applicant and the village to consult traffic, sound and real estate experts.

The applicant, Amir Jarrah of Life Long Cycles, agreed to submit a $10,000 deposit to cover fees for the village consultants, which has yet to be paid, Mayor Robert Lofaro said.

“This is their project not ours,” Lofaro added. “We’re waiting on the applicant.”

The applicant’s architect, John Notaro, of Glen Head, said on Wednesday that he was unsure whether or not the deposit had been sent, but that the applicant had hired consultants whose work had been deterred by the inclement weather.

“Everything is in the process, this kind of stuff takes a long time,” Notaro said, adding that a public hearing could potentially be set for the spring.

Plans call for an 8,000-square-foot ground floor showroom and 6,200-square-foot repair shop in the basement. There will also be 1,800 square feet office space on the second floor.
