Seaside Heights, home of MTV’s former reality show The Jersey Shore, will host the 2016 Jersey Shore Festival to kick off the summer festival season. Established bands such as San Diego's P.O.D. are among the headliners, but the Jersey Shore Festival also gives music fans a chance to hear up-and-coming artists from around the world. Long considered the premier emerging artist festival on the east coast, the 2016 Jersey Shore Festival features over 250 artists from the US, Canada, and the Caribbean, with some coming from as far as Europe to perform at twelve venues throughout Seaside Heights.
New Jersey based alternative rock band Shy Shape will play the Jersey Shore Festival for the first time this summer. Their debut EP “Out at Night” released April 8, 2016 on Noisy Poet Records. A mix of DIY and by-the-book production undergirds the band's music, with trash-picked pianos and second-hand horns delivered alongside crisp vocal harmonies and thoughtful, dark lyricism. The combination results in dancey upbeat tracks with haunting undertones. "Jersey's given music a lot...and there's another gift coming out of the state--Shy Shape..." says Ryan Jones of Alternative Addiction.
The 2016 Jersey Shore Festival is free and open to the public, and offers entertainment, shopping, and more along with lots of music. Shy Shape takes Carteret Stage Saturday evening at 7:30pm on Boardwalk & Carteret Avenue.
