CPCU Society Interest Group Honors James Jones For Contributions to Insurance Education
James Jones, CPCU, receives the George M. Gottheimer–Donald S. Malecki Memorial Award during the 2015 CPCU Society Annual Meeting.

The CPCU Society Coverage, Litigators, Educators & Witnesses (CLEW) Interest Group presented James Jones, CPCU, with the George M. Gottheimer–Donald S. Malecki Memorial Award during the 2015 CPCU Society Annual Meeting, which was held October 3 through 6 in Indianapolis.
The annual award honors a CPCU Society member who has made significant contributions to the field of insurance education, risk management or insurance consulting. Jones is executive director of the Katie School of Insurance & Financial Services at Illinois State University. He is a former board member of the Griffith Insurance Education Foundation and a former director at The Institutes. Jones has published extensively in the insurance field and is an expert on microinsurance.
“We are pleased to present James with this award,” said George M. Wallace, CPCU, chairman of the CLEW Interest Group. “Through his commitment to education, James has had a significant impact on our industry. He loves teaching others, and he is great at what he does.”
The George M. Gottheimer–Donald S. Malecki Memorial Award is named in honor of two insurance leaders. Gottheimer was president and founder of Kernan Associates. He was also a dedicated educator, serving as an associate professor at St. John’s University, where he taught insurance and reinsurance management. Malecki was an insurance consultant and author, writing over a dozen books and hundreds of articles. He loved sharing his insurance knowledge and is remembered by many for his lifetime of service to the CPCU Society.
