Latest EHS Regulations Updates Assist Companies to Achieve EHS Compliance

Highlights of selected legislation covered in the newly updated protocol include:

• The new "Occupational Health and Safety Awareness and Training Regulations (O. Reg. 297/13)" require employers to ensure that workers and supervisors have received basic safety awareness training.
• The work-from-heights training and recordkeeping requirements in the "Construction Projects Regulations (O. Reg. 213/91)" have been revised for workers who wear fall protection equipment.
• The training requirements for certain compulsory "Trades Regulations (O. Reg. 87/13)" were repealed.
• The 2014 amendments to the "Fire Code (O. Reg. 213/07)" affected many Sections of the protocol. Some notable changes include: new requirements for electrostatic spraying and dry powder coating using combustible materials; additional requirements for hot surface applications in or on buildings; and specifying extinguishing equipment needed to combat Class K (commercial cooking) fires.
• The "Building Code (O. Reg. 350/06)" was repealed and replaced with a new version of the Building Code (O. Reg. 332/12).
