Cosmetics chain Sephora will open a new store at Green Acres Mall as part of the Valley Stream property's ongoing redevelopment.

The 5,300-square-foot store will be adjacent to the Cheesecake Factory with an exterior-only entrance, the mall confirmed to Newsday. Sephora is expected to open in spring 2027.

“We’re excited to welcome Sephora to Green Acres, adding another well-known global brand to the center," said Richard Madramuthu, vice president of leasing at The Macerich Co., the Santa Monica, California-based real estate investment trust that owns the mall.

Sephora is the latest store addition for the revamped Green Acres Mall, which is being redeveloped with the aim of elevating the look of the property and attracting higher-end stores there, Newsday previously reported. Some of the new retail spaces include Panda Express, Dave’s Hot Chicken and Shake Shack, Cheesecake Factory, as well as an entertainment venue and activity space that will include bowling, an arcade, a ninja warrior course and food.

The mall, established in 1956 and purchased by Macerich in 2013, houses large tenants including Macy’s, Primark, Uniqlo, H&M and Old Navy. The redevelopment includes the demolition of the former Sears and Sears Auto Center, to be replaced with parking.

Demolition of the Sears and Sears Auto Center began on May 19, Macerich said in a news release Thursday. The groundbreaking for construction is expected to take place this summer, with construction to be completed in 2027.

“You drive up and down Sunrise Highway. And you look at Green Acres. It looks like a very ... tired mall," Madramuthu told Newsday in May. "For us, the aesthetic and improving the sight line for the property was huge.”

The redevelopment is expected to cost between $130 million and $150 million, Macerich said.

Sephora is a France-based cosmetics company founded in 1979 and has been owned by LVMH — which also owns luxury brands Louis Vuitton and Moët Hennessy — since 1997, according to its website. Its store locator page lists 14 locations on Long Island.
