Some LI Lowe's stores closing early; to reopen early Tuesday

Home-improvement retailer Lowe's will be closing a handful of Long Island stores Monday afternoon with plans to reopen them at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The Farmingdale, Stony Brook, Hicksville, Patchogue, and Riverhead stores will close today between 3  and 6 p.m., said Sarah-Frances Wallace, a Lowe's spokeswoman.

The retailer's Long Island stores have seen demand for typical hurricane preparation items such as bottled water, tarps, extension cords, flashlights and batteries, she said. The stores have been working with the company's emergency command center since last week to replenish products both before and after the storm, she said.

“Probably the best asset we have is our people working around the clock with the emergency command center to make sure we’re getting the right product to the right place as soon as possible,” Wallace said. “Thanks to that network we are able to replenish as people prepare for the hurricane and as they think about  the next steps toward recovery.”
