The latest iPhone rumor should please everyone from elegant bejeweled women, to commodities traders to hip-hop star Trinidad James. That's because the color options for the new phone won't be so black-or-white.

Apple is adding a gold-colored option to its next generation of iPhones, according to multiple published reports. The Cupertino, Calif.-based company is expected to unveil the device during a Sept. 10 event.

The phone will feature a white face with a champagne-gold back plate and similarly-toned edging, AllThingsD said.

Apple seems to have made the choice for three reasons. First, it's among the easiest colors to anodize to the phone's metal, which is key for adding a thicker, corrosion-preventing layer. Second, it'll help Apple differentiate its newest product from the existing iPhone 5. That could be an important aspect for those hesitant to upgrade because of an exterior look that is otherwise expected to be identical to the latest model. And finally, the color is extremely popular in the emerging Chinese and Indian markets.

So the next time you're attending soiree, sporting your finest jewelry, shimmying to "All Gold Everything" and contemplating the value of your portfolio, you can own a phone that matches the occasion.
