Google sells out of white Glass in one-day sale; fills 'Explorer' slots
Though Google has not said how many of its Glass smart-eyeware it sold in Tuesday's one-day sale, the company did sell out of the white model, it said on a post on its Google+ page.
The tech giant closed the online Glass store late Tuesday night.
"Welcome to our new Explorers! All spots in the Explorer Program have been claimed for now, but if you missed it this time, don’t worry. We’ll be trying new ways to expand the Explorer program in the future," the company wrote in the post.
In an earlier post, the company announced that its white model has sold out, though the device comes in four other colors including black and red.
Google allowed anyone over 18 years old to buy Glass online on Tuesday for $1,500 a pair, throwing in frames normally costing between $150 and $225 for free.
Before Tuesday, Google sold the device as invite-only, reserved for people whose pitches to the company on what they'd do with the trendy Glass caught the eye of Google.
Glass does much of the same things smartphones do, including text messaging, shooting photo and video, reading emails, searching the web, videoconferencing and sharing updates on social media, though the device relies mostly on voice commands.
