Grand Theft Auto V announced, trailer debuts
Take-Two Interactive has announced that its Rockstar Games studio is developing the next chapter of Grand Theft Auto, its popular video-game series.
The announcement comes on the heels of yesterday’s GTA V trailer debut. This time around, gamers will rampage the fictional city of Los Santos. From the look of the trailer, it feels like a mocked-up Los Angeles or San Diego with a skyscraper-filled downtown surrounded by mountains, countryside and beaches.
Rockstar co-founder Sam Houser said the project is "another radical reinvention of the Grand Theft Auto universe." According to a news release, “GTA V will have a bold new direction in open-world freedom, storytelling, mission-based gameplay and online multiplayer.”
It’s hard to tell where this “radical reinvention” is from watching the trailer. The city, character and storyline told through the voice-over in the trailer all seem eerily similar to the 2004 Grand Theft Auto San Andreas game.
No word yet on when the game will be released. Check out the debut trailer above.
