A manufacturer of toilet partitions and a Miami-based technology firm with local employees announced the layoff of a combined 60 workers, according to state filings.

Metpar Corp., at 95 State St. in Westbury, announced late last week the company would be laying off 40 employees at its manufacturing facility and headquarters this fall.

The company said the layoffs were due to economic conditions and that separations would begin on Oct. 31 and go until Nov. 15, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification posted by the state.

Officials with Metpar did not respond to requests for comment.

Metpar, founded in 1952 in Long Island City, Queens, is one of the oldest continuous manufacturers of restroom partitions with worldwide distribution, according to the company’s website. The business has been headquartered at its Westbury facility since 1956.

WARN, the state Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, requires that companies with at least 50 full-time employees file a notice of a mass layoff or a closing 90 days in advance.

Separately, Reef Technology, a Florida-based service industry technology company announced plans to lay off employees in Riverhead.

Reef Technology said in its filing with the state that it would lay off 53 workers statewide, with 21 of those employees based out of a facility at 30 Enterprise Zone Dr. in Riverhead.

Reef Technology officials could not be reached via phone for comment, and emails to executives bounced back as undeliverable.

According to its website, Reef supplies businesses, such as airport-based restaurants and convenience shops, with self-checkout registers, point-of-sale registers for employees, and software to help restaurants to keep track of delivery orders from apps like DoorDash or Grubhub.

Local employees with the firm are expected to be let go on Sept. 30, according to state filings.

The company also is letting go of 24 workers in the Bronx and eight in Manhattan.
