The actress Marilyn Monroe sang a smoky "Happy Birthday, Mr. President . . ." during a May 1962 celebration in Madison Square Garden of President John F. Kennedy's 45th birthday. Monroe died in August 1962. Kennedy, who was born May 25, 1917, was assassinated in November 1963. Rumors have persisted that the two had a relationship. (May 1962)

John Kennedy was cofounder and editor-in-chief of the nonpartisan political magazine George, named for President George Washington. The debut edition featured supermodel Cindy Crawford dressed as the, er, father of the country. The magazine folded after Kennedy died in a plane crash off Long Island. (September 1995)
