The world’s largest retailer has set a 2025 remodeling plan for more than 650 of its U.S. stores, including some on Long Island.

The two Long Island Walmart stores to undergo renovation are the Westbury and Uniondale locations. The Levittown store is also on the list but renovation work at the store was already completed in January.

Work on the Uniondale and Westbury stores will start in late summer and finish in the fall, Walmart spokeswoman Mariel Messier said Wednesday.

Each remodel will be a multimillion-dollar project, said Messier, who declined to provide more-specific numbers.

The renovation will include adding new signage, increasing merchandise selections, expanding online pickup and delivery functions, and adding private screening rooms and wider aisles in pharmacies, Walmart said in a statement Wednesday.

The stores will not close while the remodeling takes place, the retailer said.

The work will include 23 stores in New York State, the company said.

"Our stores often serve as the heartbeat of the communities we operate in, and these remodels are a testament to our dedication to enhancing that role,” Annie Walker, senior vice president in East Business Unit at Walmart Stores Inc., said in the statement Wednesday.

Located at 3335 Hempstead Tpke., the Levittown store is a Walmart Neighborhood Market, which is a grocery store and smaller than a typical Walmart.

The remodeling of the 49,395-square-foot Levittown store included expanding the deli to make it a full-service department with a hot bar; increasing the selection of refrigerated ready-to-go foods; widening and elongating the aisles to add more grocery items; switching some of the self-checkout lanes to registers with cashiers; and adding new paint, fixtures and signs, the retailer said.

The Walmart in Westbury is at 1220 Old Country Rd., and the Uniondale store is at 1123 Jerusalem Ave.

Before 2025, Walmart spent $298 million over five years to upgrade some stores in New York State, including the Valley Stream and Farmingdale locations in 2022, Messier said. The spending also included enlarging the Farmingdale Walmart and adding a grocery store to make it a supercenter in 2020.

Among Walmart Inc.'s 14 stores on Long Island, there is one Sam’s Club in Medford and three supercenters, including those in Valley Stream and Yaphank

In New York State, Walmart Inc. has 111 stores, including 12 Sam’s Club locations, and more than 39,600 employees.

The company has more than 10,750 stores in 19 countries.
