Antique Car and Motor Show impresses with vintage vehicles and engines
This weekend I drove out to the east end for the 18th annual Long Island Antique Power Association Farm and Tractor pull, as well as the 10th annual American Truck Historical Society truck show in Riverhead. I was pleasantly surprised to see so many antique cars, trucks, and tractors in such great condition.
I also saw a collection of antique agricultural motors from the turn of the century, which were also in excellent condition given their age. Of all the vehicles available at the show, my favorite was the 1912 Alco cargo truck, which is thought to be the only one in existence. This beautifully restored truck looked as if it had just rolled off the factory line, despite its century-old history.
