Amy M. Murphy has joined law firm Farrell Fritz in the Hauppauge office as an associate, focusing her practice in commercial and residential real estate purchases, sales and financing. The East Islip resident was previously an associate at Gilmartin & Bregman in Southampton.
Nicholas A. Marino, of Hungtingon, has joined Rockville Centre law firm DerGarabedian, Dillon, Nathan & Coluccio as lead counsel in criminal defense, family law and personal injury. He previously was a Bronx County prosecutor.

The Viscardi Center, an Albertson-based nonprofit providing educational and employment services for people with disabilities, announced two promotions.
Sheryl Buchel has been promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer. The Old Bethpage resident was previously senior vice president of administration and chief financial officer.
Laura M. Francis has been promoted to executive director of the national business and disability council. She lives in Mineola, has been with the organization for over 20 years and was acting director for the past 16 months.
