HEALTH CARE
Susan Kwiatek has been appointed the new executive director at Glen Cove Hospital. She was previously associate executive director of patient care services and chief nursing officer and is a resident of Glen Cove.
Dr. Daniel G. Murphy has been named chief of emergency medicine at Catholic Health Services of Long Island and will serve as chairman of the department of emergency medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip. The Garden City resident previously served as director of emergency services at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre.
BOARDS & ASSOCIATIONS
Hope Children's Fund, a Setauket-based organization that supports an orphanage in Kenya, has added two new board members. Samantha Lacovara is a Shoreham resident attending Suffolk University in Boston. Rich Reinhardt also is a resident of Shoreham and is president of East End Builders in Bridgehampton.
Patricia Force has been elected chairwoman of the board of directors for The Long Island Volunteer Center in Hempstead. The Mount Sinai resident has been a member of the board since 2008 and is vice president of client relations and marketing for Cliffco Mortgage Bankers in Westbury.
Alan J. Schwartz was recently re-elected as president of the Jewish Lawyers Association of Nassau County. The Dix Hills resident is the principal attorney at the Law Offices of Alan J. Schwartz in Garden City.
CONSTRUCTION
John Furey has been promoted to account executive at Stalco Construction, a general contracting and construction management firm. The Port Jefferson resident was promoted from senior estimator and will work at the headquarters in Islandia.
EDUCATION
Lisa M. Strahs-Lorenc has joined the Sanford-Browne Institute in Garden City as director of community and alumni relations. The Port Jefferson Station resident was previously director of marketing, community relations and educational services at Long Island Works Coalition in Melville.
ENGINEERING
D&B Engineers and Architects in Woodbury have announced two promotions. Ellen R. DeOrsay has been promoted to senior associate in the environmental remediation and multimedia compliance division. She was previously an associate and lives in Huntington. Elizabeth Sam has been promoted to proposal director of the marketing department. She was previously a technical writer and lives in Ronkonkoma.
HOSPITALITY
Lisa Behnke has joined Holiday Inn Express in Stony Brook as sales manager. The Stony Brook resident is a freelance writer and graduated from Stony Brook University.
