Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo's former Douglas Manor home -- a six-bedroom house with four bathrooms that is similar to the Great Neck residence of literary luminary F. Scott Fitzgerald -- is on the market for $2.67 million.
A Tuscan-style terrace over the main entryway of the Grosvenor Street house is a detail one might expect to see in Fitzgerald's "The Great Gatsby," says listing agent Michael Stanco, who is co-listing with Michael Misiti, both of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.
Cuomo lived here during his marriage to Kerry Kennedy, and the current owners bought the residence from Cuomo in 1993. Cuomo and Kennedy divorced in 2005 after marrying in 1991.
The grand entrance continues through the foyer, which leads into the living room, where there is a grand piano. The piano is staying with the house. Wide stairs ascend to the second floor.
"Tremendous amounts of natural light" enter the home through large, curved-top windows with decorative stained glass on the first floor and rectangular windows on the second floor, Stanco says. A sunroom on the first floor is used as an office; there is also an eat-in kitchen, dining room and half-bathroom on the first floor.
Two bedrooms, one of which is connected to a bathroom, and a master suite are on the second floor, and three bedrooms and a bathroom can be found on the third floor. The home includes a full finished basement with laundry, utilities, and a bathroom, and has a two-car garage.
The property is set on a quarter acre and is "completely private," Stanco says. A marina is two blocks away from the house, and membership in The Douglaston Club, a private yacht, pool and tennis club, is included with ownership.
The house was first listed in May for $3.098 million.
