One Islip ranch for sale offers an unusual feature down below — a log cabin basement.
Seller Danny Dixon transformed the unfinished basement into his own rustic paradise using Michigan pine wood purchased through a company specializing in log homes.
Building a log cabin had always been the retired carpenter’s dream.
“I had the opportunity for the space — why not make it something I really wanted?” says Dixon, who is listing the three-bedroom, one-bath home for $339,000 with Noel Kappauf and Debra Carr of Netter Real Estate.
The entire project took eight months. There’s also a stone wall with a wood-burning stove, log banisters and the scent of pine in the air.
“The wood has a unique smell,” Dixon said. “The log cabin atmosphere really makes you want to relax.”
