A Bayport house on the market for $1.6 million was built in 1914 by well-known local architect Isaac H. Green.

It had become a shell of itself over the years, say homeowners Deborah and Tom Pirro, who began ongoing renovations to restore the home’s original character after they purchased the two-acre property in 1993. That included installing a large porcelain slop sink, French doors and other fixtures from a defunct Sayville church property.

“We put it back in keeping with the timeliness of the era,” says Deborah Pirro.

The estate features a 14-room main house. The 4,810-square-foot building features a kitchen with a six-burner stove, two dishwashers and ceiling-to-floor cupboards. Inside there is a sunroom, wraparound porch, six bedrooms, three full bedrooms and two half-bathrooms.

Just across the yard is a 1,200-square-foot cottage connected to a two-car garage. The space is currently used as an office with a pair of half-bathrooms. There also is a three-stall barn suitable for ponies or horses.

An in-ground pool and stone patio lies behind the main house.

The property is listed with Tracy Boucher of Coach Realtors.
