The Governor’s Mansion is for sale. No, not that governor and not for sale in the way you may be thinking. “The Governor’s Mansion” is a bed and breakfast in Westhampton Beach that recently went on the market for $2.35 million. Built in 1908, it was once the home of the family of New York State Gov. Alfred E. Smith.

The current owners bought this seven-bedroom, 5.5-bathroom Georgian-style home in 2000, when it was in serious disrepair. “When the homeowners bought the house in 2000, it had a sagging front porch that touched the ground and the property was overgrown and had no single functioning bathroom," says Enzo Morabito of Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate, who is sharing the listing with Aimee Fitzpatrick Martin. "The couple completely gutted the house in order to restore it to its turn-of-the-century glory. Today, it is Westhampton Beach’s only truly conforming B&B because of its state-of-the-art safety systems."

The 4,600-square-foot home has been owner-occupied and operated as South Winds Bed & Breakfast for the past 10 years. The home has a double front parlor/living room, a formal dining room with original beam ceilings and a breathtaking custom-built 400-square-foot glass conservatory.
