This nine-bedroom French Provincial-style house in Cold Spring Harbor was designed by noted architectural firm Noel and Miller for lawyer and ambassador Douglas Moffat in the early 1930s. On the market for $5.7 million, it is on an elevated property and has two covered porches with views across Long Island Sound to Connecticut.

The home is being sold by only the second owner, says listing agent Kathryn "Cottie" Maxwell Pournaras, of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty.

It features a grand circular staircase, a library with hand-rubbed cherrywood and four working fireplaces with imported French mantels. There are also intricate crown and dentil moldings, and both the living room and master bedroom have curved walls.

"You are so secluded, you feel like you're in the French countryside, yet you're moments from the train and downtown Huntington," Pournaras says.

On the 6-acre property is a heated gunite pool and a DecoTurf tennis court. There is also a two-bedroom apartment over a heated three-car garage.
