Journalist George Stephanopoulos and his wife, actress Alexandra Wentworth, recently purchased an East Hampton home for $3.5 million, according to the Long Island Real Estate Report.
The 4,500-square-foot house has five bedrooms and four bathrooms. It was built around 1890. Architect Francis Fleetwood added on to the home in 1933.
There is a cottage with one bedroom, one bathroom and a studio. The one-acre property also has a heated gunite pool.
Stephanopoulos is an anchor for ABC's "Good Morning America." Wentworth stars in Starz's "Head Case." They bought the house from Stribling real estate agent Jessica Mansell Ambrose and her husband, Colin, who own Estias Little Kitchen in Sag Harbor.
"The house is located in the village and has 'old East Hampton' charm," says Jessica Mansell Ambrose. "It's a true family cottage with the most fabulous pool. We have had the most wonderful times there, raising three beautiful girls, many family meals and special times and holidays with family and friends. After 15 years, it's time to bring in a new young family with fresh new ideas. We are thrilled that the new owners have a plan to leave the house as is."
Lori Barbaria of Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate was the listing agent. John Gicking of Sotheby's International Realty brought Stephanopoulos and Wentworth to the deal.
Stephanopoulos and Wentworth sold an East Hampton home in 2008 for $2.5 million.
