Hockey's Rick DiPietro selling Upper Brookville home

Former Islanders goaltender Rick DiPietro is trying to sell his Upper Brookville home.

On the market for $5.9 million, the home features a professional gym, theater with a wet bar and top-of-the-line appliances, according to the listing with Karyn Rotter of Shawn Elliott Luxury Homes & Estates.

The five-bedroom, 4-1/2-bath brick house is in a grandly designed cul-de-sac within a gated community. The home is elegantly furnished. It was built in 2002 on a 2.11-acre lot with a saltwater pool, generator and three-car garage.

DiPietro was the New York Islanders' top pick in the 2000 draft. He signed a record-setting 15-year contract in 2006. The team bought him out earlier this year, following a series of injuries. The 32-year-old is an unrestricted free agent, which means that he can still sign with another team.

Rotter has a second listing belonging to a hockey player — Bobby Nystrom, whose Oyster Bay Cove home, on the market for $1.65 million, recently went into contract. And the Long Island luxury housing has another player in the game — Hockey Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine has his Lloyd Neck home listed for $6.995 million.
