House linked to Underground Railroad for sale in Sag Harbor
A historic Sag Harbor captain’s home said to have been a stop on the Underground Railroad is on the market for the first time in nearly 40 years. The legal two-family house is listed for $2.475 million.
The four-bedroom, four-bathroom house was built in 1850 and has been expanded over the years, says listing agent Jackie Lowey of Saunders & Associates. The living room is where original house was, and the original locust posts and foundation are visible in the basement.
The family that owns the house “has over the years found different relics and different pieces of history that they’ve found in the basement and donated to the whaling museum,” Lowey says.
