If you're looking to buy in Farmingdale
THE SCOOP Spanning two counties and two towns, Farmingdale has a village and two hamlets -- South Farmingdale and East Farmingdale. "The majority of Farmingdale is in the Town of Oyster Bay with a small pocket in the Town of Babylon," says resident Liz Schumann of Century 21 Prevete Real Estate in Plainview.
The village boasts a pedestrian-friendly downtown with a village green, shops and eateries. Mayor George Starkie says the administration is updating the master plan and working on new codes, which will include mixed-use redevelopment with increased density for the business district. In South Farmingdale, the former 22-acre Superfund site next to Ellsworth W. Allen Park is in its final phase of remediation. Eventually, the park will expand to almost 40 acres, says town spokeswoman Marta Kane. This month in East Farmingdale, Republic Airport hosted an open house on a plan for the airport's future development.
Buyers have a lot of housing choices in Farmingdale, Schumann says.
