Lloyd Harbor home built in 1770 lists for $2.75 million

A 1770 home that was moved to its location in Lloyd Harbor so that it would be in the ideal spot is on the market for $2.75 million.

"The house was near West Neck Road, and in the 1940s the family moved two-thirds of the house to the current spot up the hill to achieve a beautiful, wide west-and-north water view," says Margaret Hargraves of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty, the co-listing agent for the property.

The rest of the house was left near West Neck Road, and was made into a complete house, she says.

This one is a five-bedroom, four bathroom with a half-bath house that's about 5,000 square feet on the Lloyd Harbor inlet overlooking a marsh. It also comes with a four-bedroom cottage.

The main home has many of its original features.

"It oozes with charm," Hargraves says.

Except for the kitchen, all the main rooms have fireplaces.

The front door is original, too. To open it, you pull on a string that comes through the door, Hargraves says. The string is attached to a board that drops down into a slot that opens the door, she adds.
