Rich Cribs: Magician selling in Westhampton Beach
REMEMBER HIM? The Westhampton Beach home of memory-training specialist, magician and author Harry Lorayne is on the market for $2.499 million.
The two-story contemporary house with canal frontage has four bedrooms and three baths. It was built in 1993.
Most of the living is done on the second floor to take advantage of views of Moriches Bay via an open kitchen-dining-living room layout that further opens onto a deck. The master bedroom is on the same level with access to the deck.
On almost 1.5 acres, the property has a heated pool and hot tub and a deep-water canal bulkhead. Lorayne, 85, and his wife, Renee, agree that the quiet neighborhood encourages relaxation. Lorayne put it simply by saying, “We like quiet.”
In their earlier years in the house, they liked entertaining, too. Guests they’ve had at their dining table include Alan and Arlene Alda and Mel Brooks and his wife, the late Anne Bancroft.
Lorayne — who says, “I don’t like retirement, I have nothing to retire to, and I’ve been writing and enjoying working all my life” — continues to work. He’s writing another book, which would top the 17 memory-training books and the 29 magic books he’s already written.
The house is listed with Enzo Morabito’s team at Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate.

CUTCHOGUE NEST. The Krause estate in Cutchogue — known as Quawksnest — is on the market for $6.5 million.
The 17-room home belonged to Bradley Krause, one of Kinko’s founders, and his wife, Stuie, whose family had owned the property during the 1950s and 1960s.
The couple purchased the property from another family in 2003 for $3.5 million and renovated it, leaving the same footprint but expanding the amenities. It was decorated by Bunny Williams.
The original house was built in 1896, and the current 1.2-acre property features a barn, a brick ice house, perennial gardens and 140 feet of sandy beach on the Peconic Bay. It is listed with Louisa Hargrave of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty.
