This Setauket home on the beach, listed for $849,000, comes with its own separate beach house. The four-bedroom, two-bathroom house has direct views of the Port Jefferson Harbor, says Francine Saer of Coach Realtors, listing agent for the property. The beach house wouldn't be allowed to be built anymore due to zoning but was grandfathered in, she says.
The beach house comes with an outside shower, a half-bath, a wraparound deck and a storage area where the current owner keeps kayaks and other boating equipment.
Inside the main house, the sun lights every room, Saer says. There's a sunroom off the master suite and a billiard room on the lower level.
"The light is just amazing -- there's such a tranquil feeling, it's so peaceful," she says. "Who wouldn't want to wake up like that every morning?"
Sea captain's house for $675,000
This Port Jefferson home, on the market for $675,000, was originally built by a sea captain in 1870.
The house has four-bedrooms, four-bathroom and four-fireplaces. It includes historic architectural details such as ceiling medallions, a carved double-door front entrance, a claw-foot bathtub, an old-fashioned pull lever doorbell and low doorknobs throughout the house. A widow's walk crowns the house and is accessible through a second-floor bathroom.

Seller Lillian Wain grew up in the house and says that what is now a two-car garage was once a barn. The loft, a wood floor and a trap door are still there. A third structure on the property, always called a carriage house by the family, has a large window and electric service, she says.
The house is listed with Nancy Cimilluca of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
