A circa 1920s bungalow in the East Hampton community of Springs, listed for $515,000, has quite a story to tell. In the 1940s, the house was picked up and moved about three miles from its original site on Gerard Drive near the beach at Acabonic Harbor to its current location on Gann Road near Three Mile Harbor, says homeowner Arleen West. She says she was given the information by the late Dorothy King, the former department head of the Long Island Collection at the East Hampton Library. King, a longtime resident of Gerard Drive, remembered the move.
West’s family purchased the 1,000-square-foot cottage as a summer home before becoming full-time residents in the 1970s.
The house, which recently went into contract, still has a beach cottage feel, says listing agent Barbara Lester of Hamptons Realty Group.
There are three bedrooms and one bathroom. Other features include a full attic and a full basement plus an attached two-car garage with a wall separating the two bays.
