Suicide-pact couple's Montauk home sells for $3.5 million
A waterfront home in Montauk that belonged to the estate of Dr. Rajasekar Sham recently sold for $3.5 million, according to the Long Island Real Estate Report.
Sham, a radiologist, hanged himself in 2008 at his Flower Hill home. He had pleaded guilty a week earlier to fatally stabbing his terminally ill wife, Lucila, in a suicide pact. He had attempted to kill himself that day but survived.
They were married 40 years.
East Hampton attorney John McGowan represented the estate. He said the house, which is on an acre of waterfront property, had been used as the couple's vacation home. He said it was originally listed for $4.7 million.
