A more than century-old Tudor with eight bedrooms set on almost 2 acres in Belle Terre is on the market for $1.395 million.
Built in 1908, the three-story home on Lower Devon Road is one of eight Tudors constructed in the "English" section of Belle Terre that were designed by British architect Frederick Sterner and built by Dean Alvord, a developer credited with launching what became the Village of Belle Terre. The home has access to village amenities, including a beach on the Sound.

The house has five full bathrooms and three half baths, a garden room, library, solarium and two sun porches. It has original woodwork, hardwood floors, brickwork, leaded glass windows and a large wood-burning fireplace in the living room, which also has wood beams.
The property has an enclosed brick courtyard and two open balconies on the third floor with views of sunsets on Port Jefferson Harbor, says listing agent Michael O’Dwyer of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, who is representing the sellers with agent Holly Brainard.

The home needs some updating. "It’s just a great opportunity to restore an original Tudor with the original leaded windows and make it your own," O'Dwyer says.

The home also has an original staircase that begins at the entryway with marble floors and winds up three floors. An addition on the back of the house created two open porches that face the harbor. The house has central air conditioning and a full unfinished basement with walkout access.
There is an Olympic-sized gunite pool and cabana, as well as a detached two-car garage on the property, which is in the Port Jefferson School District. Taxes are $29,328.
