Amber Ferrari says she has no problem compartmentalizing her creativity.

The Patchogue singer-songwriter will release her new EP, “Where Your Wishes Fly” (O.M.O. Records), on April 30, the same night she will unveil her new live show “Material Girl,” featuring the music of Madonna.

“When I’m working on one, I don’t even think of the other,” Ferrari says. “When I’m writing original stuff, I just write exactly how I feel as an artist.”

That means Ferrari, along with her husband, Chris, may write a ballad one moment, a blues rocker the next. After all, Ferrari’s influences run the gamut from Janis Joplin, whose music she has paid tribute to for years, to Madonna, whom she now also pays tribute to in her act. “She really is an all-around entertainer,” she says of Madonna. “I love ’80s music, both the rock and dance elements of it. I’ve put together the whole show about it — the music, the dancers, the lighting cues, the costuming. There’s so much to do with the show and with the new CD, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Ferrari plays the Patchogue Theatre, 71 E. Main St., Patchogue, at 8 p.m. April 30, 631-207-1313. Tickets are $20-$48 through patchoguetheatre.org
