Angelina Jolie, 36, and Brad Pitt, 48, have an unconventional way of doing things to be sure. So after seven flash bulb-filled years, and six children later, well they’re tying the knot. And because they march to the beat of their own drummer – well it’s somewhat surprising that they seem to be approaching marriage in a rather traditional manner complete with an engagement ring.

But, let’s be clear. This is not just any ring. According to reports, Pitt worked with Beverly Hills designer Robert Procop for a year helping to design this significant bauble. The diamonds are reportedly flawless, and the ring features an elongated tablet-shaped center stone with a band of specially cut diamonds to encircle “Angelina’s long, slender fingers,” explained Procop’s rep. (Don’t you hate it when those diamonds don’t fit your finger well?)

The value has been estimated anywhere from $250,000 to $1 million. London Jeweler's Scott Udell has examined photographs of the ring and says to his eye, "It's worth anywhere from $800,000 to $1 million."

The couple confirmed their engagement last Friday through Pitt’s manager, Cynthia Pett-Dante, who told the Associated Press: "It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy.”

While no date has been set for the impending nuptials, rumor has it that the couple will wed at their French chateau and some media outlets have reported that there will be a chapel built on the property for the event.

Next up: the dress. Who will Angie wear?
