Jillian Michaels is now a mom -- twice over. The celebrity fitness trainer adopted a 2-year-old daughter the same week Michaels' partner, Heidi Rhoades, delivered a newborn son.

"We're swimming in babies over here," a gleeful Michaels, 38, told People magazine in the issue being published Friday.

Michaels -- who was a trainer on NBC's "The Biggest Loser" for all but one season since its inception -- announced in December 2010 that she was leaving the competitive weight-loss series after Season 11 ended, partly to "focus on becoming a mommy."

Though she was enrolled in an adoption pilot program of the Democratic Republic of the Congo at that time, Michaels told People that she brought home daughter Lukensia from Haiti following a lengthy adoption process.

That same week, on May 3, Rhoades, 31, delivered a baby boy whom the couple named Phoenix.

Having two small children at once is as much a challenge as a triathlon, Jillian suggests. "I don't even answer email. I don't have time to care about anything else," she said. "I want to be really present and enjoy all the nuances of their growth and development. I don't want to rush any of it."

Michaels told People that after she had begun the nine-month paperwork process for adoption, she began getting more serious with Rhoades, a former music manager. "Our relationship happened to intersect with my desire to be a parent, and Heidi was supportive," Michaels said. Then last year, "Heidi was feeling invested in us, and she was like, 'What if I try to get pregnant and whatever happens happens?' I said, 'Baby, if that's what you want to do and that's what's meant to be, then I support you.' "
