Alexa Ray Joel becoming Prell shampoo spokeswoman
Alexa Ray Joel will get to show what she's learned from both of her parents when she becomes the new spokeswoman for Prell shampoo this year. Not only will she fill the same role her mother, Christie Brinkley, did for the company in 1986, but her music, influenced by her father, Billy Joel, for years, will serve as the campaign's soundtrack.

"I am so excited and honored to be named the new face of Prell - especially following in the footsteps of my mother, who was a Prell girl," Joel said in a statement. The 24-year-old singer-songwriter hasn't finalized which of her songs will serve as the backdrop for the commercials, which are scheduled to be shot next month. However, with months spent in the studio working on her new album, there isn't a shortage of material.
"What's important for her is that this campaign showcases her as an artist, shows her as a singer-songwriter," said Claire Mercuri, Joel's spokeswoman. The deal, handled by IMPAX Marketing Group president Jay Arnold, has been in the works for months, even before Joel's hospitalization in December after swallowing a handful of homeopathic pills to deal with her "heartbreak-related depression."
"Ultimark is delighted to continue the Prell tradition started by Alexa's mother, Christie Brinkley," said Lance T. Funston, the company's chairman, in a statement.
"We couldn't be more excited about having a talent like Alexa help us refresh Prell," added Chris Dominello, chief executive of Ultimark, which bought Prell last year.
Brinkley was excited about the news as well, taking to her Facebook fan page to post photos and comment, "My muse Alexa! Congratulations on getting the Prell contract!"
