Alexa Ray Joel engaged to boyfriend Ryan Gleason

Sag Harbor supermodel Christie Brinkley congratulated her daughter Alexa Ray Joel Tuesday on her child’s engagement to restaurateur Ryan J. Gleason.

“Under the largest moon on the year, my little Moonbeam got engaged, and I am over the moon with joy for these two! (my iPhone is not working so I have not been able to post .. I am trying to write my comment now .. each word is a struggle to post),” Brinkley, 63, wrote on Instagram, with a photo of the happy couple showing off the engagement ring, against the backdrop of a bright moon in a blue sky amid palm trees. Joel, 32, the eldest of Brinkley’s three children, is the singer-songwriter daughter of Brinkley and her ex-husband, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Billy Joel.

“Ryan is the sweetest, kindest, hard working man who sincerely loves and adores my precious Alexa Ray so I love him too and while we have always thought of him as family soon he really will be!” Brinkley continued. “What s beautiful way for our family to start the New Year.... Celebrating their (love) !!!”

In a separate post accompanying a photo of Gleason on one knee proposing to Joel on a sandy beach, Brinkley wrote, “Let’s Start Planning a Wedding! (just saying those words just made me cry!).”

On New Year’s Day, Alexa Ray Joel had announced her engagement on Instagram, in two photos of herself and Gleason, writing, “He said to me: ‘Before I met you, my world was in black and white. You colored it in between the lines.’ It was the most beautiful thing anybody’s ever said to me. How could I possibly say no to that?!?! . . . So I was completely taken off-guard, dumbstruck, and shellshocked- and FOR ONCE in my life, I had absolutely no words, and I couldn’t speak . . . I just kept staring at this ridiculously exquisite ring- and he was just hysterically laughing at me!!!”

A third photo showed her engagement ring, with a message consisting of emoji of an anchor with a dove in flight on either side.

On his own Instagram account, Gleason posted a photo of the couple’s clasped hands, writing, “Luckiest guy in the world!!!!”

Billy Joel, 68, posted a photo of the happy couple his Instagram account and wrote: “She’s got a way about her! Alexa Ray Joel is engaged to her boyfriend, restaurateur Ryan Gleason.”

Meanwhile, Alexa Ray Joel’s half-sister, model and college student Sailor Brinkley Cook, 19, also posted a photo on her Instagram of the couple in a beach setting. She wrote: “She got engaged at sunset in the place we grew up and made the most memories. Im so excited for you sister @alexarayjoel and for the great man you’re marrying @ryanjgleason i love you guys with my whole heart! Let’s plan a wedding mama @christiebrinkley !!!”

No social media could be found for Alexa Ray and Sailor’s half-brother, Jack Paris Brinkley Taubman, 22.

In July, Brinkley told “Entertainment Tonight” of Gleason, “I totally approve. Nicest guy, real sweetheart,” adding, “He just gets her, and I see him sort of looking at her in that special way. It’s sweet.”

Gleason’s Facebook account lists him as owner of the East Village bar-restaurant Drexler’s.
