Amanda Bynes arrested on drunk driving charge, reports say

Former child star Amanda Bynes, 28, was arrested for alleged drunken driving early Sunday morning.

The California Highway Patrol said in a statement Monday that Bynes was charged with a misdemeanor following a 4 a.m. arrest at an intersection in the Sherman Oaks section of Los Angeles, according to The Associated Press. Police determined she was under the influence of a controlled substance while driving. She was cooperative but disheveled when taken to a police station, the statement said.

According to E! News, Bynes was released Sunday on $15,000 bail. She has a court date scheduled for Oct. 23, E! said.

Bynes is currently serving three years' probation after pleading no contest in February to alcohol-related reckless driving stemming from a 2012 DUI arrest after having clipped a cruiser driven by a sheriff's deputy. She also was cited in March 2012 for talking on her cellphone while driving, and in May that year she sideswiped a vehicle, causing minor damage.

In May 2013, the former star of Nickelodeon's "All That" and "The Amanda Show" who went on to appear in movies, was arrested in Manhattan and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, reckless endangerment and tampering with physical evidence after allegedly tossing a bong out the window of her 36th-floor apartment. This past June, a judge dismissed those charges under condition she remain out of trouble for six months.

In July 2013, Bynes was involuntarily hospitalized in California after setting a small fire in the driveway of a stranger's home in Thousand Oaks, California. After four months of inpatient rehabilitation, she was released to her parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes, under her mother's conservatorship. In April this year, she denied, through her attorney, that she suffered from schizophrenia.
