Amy Schumer hospitalized for pregnancy-related issue

Comedy star Amy Schumer, who is expecting her first child with husband Chris Fischer, has canceled two performances after being hospitalized due to a pregnancy-related ailment.

"Texas I am so deeply sorry,” the comedian, 37, wrote on Instagram Thursday, referring to postponed shows that night in Dallas and Friday in Austin. Posting a photo of herself in a hospital bed or gurney, resting with her eyes closed, Schumer wrote, "I have been really looking forward to these shows. I have to reschedule. I am in the hospital."

The Rockville Centre-raised comedian added, “I'm fine. Baby's fine but everyone who says the 2nd trimester is better is not telling the full story. I’ve been even more ill this trimester. I have hyperemesis and it blows," she said, referring to hyperemesis gravidarum (HG), a severe form of nausea and vomiting in pregnancy that prevents adequate eating and drinking and can result in dehydration, metabolic imbalances and other issues. It generally lasts beyond the first trimester to 21 weeks.

"Very lucky to be pregnant but this is some . . . [expletive]" Schumer wrote. "Sending so much love to the doctors and nurses taking great care of me and Tati!," her dog. "They are cool as hell! And Texas I am really really sorry and I’ll be out there as soon as I’m better."

Schumer's next scheduled dates are Saturday at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark, Sunday at Heinz Hall in Pittsburgh, and Wednesday at the Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, her closest stop to Long Island.

Schumer announced her pregnancy on Oct. 22 in an unorthodox way. "@AmySchumer getting out the vote and something else," her friend Jessica Yellin wrote in the first of a series of posts on Instagram Stories. The next panel featured a list of candidates Schumer was endorsing — followed almost imperceptibly by the notation "I'm pregnant-Amy Schumer."

She and celebrity chef Fischer married in February.
