Comedian Amy Schumer says she was just kidding about leaving the country if Donald Trump were elected president.

“First of all the interview where I said I would move was in London and was said in jest,” the Rockville Centre-reared Emmy Award-winner, 35, posted on Instagram on Wednesday. “Not that anyone needs more than a headline to count something as official news.”

Schumer had also joked separately about moving to Spain, telling “BBC Newsnight” in September, “My act will change because I’ll need to learn to speak Spanish because I will move to Spain, or somewhere.”

In a long essay following Trump’s electoral-college win, Schumer reiterated that she was “horrified that people believed these bumper sticker slogans filled with hate he spewed.”

“I am furious,” she said in her Instagram post. “I cry for [Hillary Clinton] and for all the smart people I love who know what’s right and I cry for you people who fell for shiny hats and reality catch phrases. [Clinton] would have protected you. Today we grieve tomorrow we begin again.”

Numerous celebrities, including Raven-Symoné, Stephen King and Lena Dunham, had also said they would leave the United States if Trump were elected.
