Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone have broken up after four years, according to multiple reports.

E! News, People and Us Weekly magazine posted simultaneous reports Tuesday evening with similar quotes from an unnamed source who said that despite the breakup, the two stars continue to have amicable feelings for one another and remain on good terms.

Neither the actors nor their representatives have commented.

Garfield, 32, and Stone, who turns 27 next week, met when she auditioned in 2010 for the role of Peter Parker's girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, in "The Amazing Spider-Man." Although the actors have never explicitly discussed their romance in the press, Stone told Entertainment Weekly shortly before the first movie's release in 2012 that, "A lot of our scenes are scripted. But there are moments that aren't, where we were able to find whatever it was we were looking for playing two kids who were falling in love for the first time."

The reports gave varying accounts of when the breakup occurred, with E! News and Us Weekly saying "a couple of months ago" while People expanded the timeline to "a few months ago." People said they were last seen together publicly in Los Angeles in August, and before that in Venice, California, in May.

All the accounts attributed the split to work schedules. Garfield recently shot Martin Scorsese's historical drama "Silence," which wrapped after about 14 weeks of photography in Taipei, Taiwan, in May. In late September, Garfield began production on the Mel Gibson-directed World War II biopic "Hacksaw Ridge" in New South Wales, Australia. In August, Stone began shooting "La La Land," a musical romance set in Los Angeles.
