Anne Hathaway, Adam Shulman get married

Actress Anne Hathaway has married her beau of four years, actor-turned-jewelry designer Adam Shulman.

They were wed Saturday night at a private estate in California's Big Sur coastal region, People magazine said Sunday, with the bride walking down the aisle in a custom Valentino gown and a 1920s-inspired headband attached to a veil.

Event planners Yifat Oren and Stefanie Cove began the wedding weekend with a rehearsal dinner at the Ventana Inn and Spa, People said. The more than 150 guests were primarily family and friends, with Hathaway's movie stunt double among the few people from the entertainment industry.

The reception featured an all-vegan menu and more than $100,000 worth of flowers, the magazine added. The San Francisco jazz trio Americano Social Club provided the music.

The Brooklyn-born Hathaway, 29 -- an Academy Award nominee for best actress, for 2008's "Rachel Getting Married" -- became engaged in November, after three years together with Shulman, 31. The groom, who co-founded the jewelry line James Banks with Heidi Nahser Fink, helped design the engagement ring, from the jeweler Kwiat.

Shulman and Hathaway met through mutual friends, she told Vogue in 2010. "We hit it off immediately, but it took us a pretty long time to get together," she said. "He thought that I had a boyfriend, and I thought that he had a girlfriend, so I thought that I'd better keep my distance because I didn't want to be that girl." After eventually realizing they were unattached, she added, "Things sped up a bit -- and I think I'll leave it at that."

Hathaway, who played Selina Kyle in the Batman film "The Dark Knight Rises," is upcoming in the movie adaptation of the musical "Les Misérables." Her films include "The Devil Wears Prada" and Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland."
