Singer Bryan Adams gets a lift from Suffolk sheriffs after car problems

They didn't know it at the time, but when two Suffolk County deputy sheriffs picked up a pedestrian recently, it would turn out to be a memorable move. The man was singer-songwriter Bryan Adams.
Chief Michael Sharkey said Deputy Sheriffs Edward McComiskey and Brian Cowan were driving down Yaphank Avenue in Yaphank on Aug. 12 when they saw a man walking along the side of the road near Sunrise Highway at around 2 p.m. They stopped when the man indicated he needed help.
“They didn’t recognize him at the time but it was Bryan Adams,” Sharkey said.
Adams told McComiskey and Cowan that he had been in an Uber vehicle from Amagansett to Manhattan. The driver was having car trouble, Adams said, so he decided to get out and walk to find better transportation.
The deputies gave Adams a ride to the Ronkonkoma LIRR station, where he continued on with his trip. Adams snapped a photo with the deputies and later posted it to Instagram, thanking the department for their help.
“Thanks to these two fellas from the NY Sheriff’s dept, for giving me a lift to the train today in Long Island,” he wrote.
The department shared the photo on Monday, noting that Adams “found himself in ‘Heaven’ ” when the deputies arrived.
“We're happy to assist Mr. Adams and all of our 1.5 million residents in the Summer of '18 and beyond,” the department wrote.
