An attorney for former "Princesses: Long Island" star Casey L. Cohen has objected to a tabloid's claim that Cohen was involved with married rapper and music mogul Jay Z.

Lawyer Ravi Batra said in a statement that his letter to Marc Richards of Bauer Media Group -- whose magazines include In Touch, Life & Style Weekly and Closer -- accused the company of publishing "a phony, fabricated Jay-Z-Mistress rumor" involving Cohen.

Though Batra identified the publication as In Touch, the article appeared in Life & Style. It quoted an anonymous source claiming, "Jay probably sees her twice a month. He visits while she's working and then they'll slip away for an after party. She'll hang out with him all night, flirting with him and touching him." The article then quoted Cohen as saying, "The only interaction I've ever had with him has been on a professional level as part of my job at 1Oak," a nightclub in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood where she has worked as a waitress.

"Casey has never been Jay-Z's mistress, and is not Jay-Z's mistress," Batra said in his statement. "Indeed, they have never been in love or intimate; not even close. . . . For Bauer to deceive and incite the public by fabricating and publishing a foul and phony mistress-rumor, knowing all along that there was not a shred of truth in such allegations . . . is journalistic terrorism."

The statement said Batra asked Bauer to desist from "future libelous reporting on this topic"; to issue a public apology to Cohen, Jay Z and the rapper's wife, singer Beyoncé; and to delete the story from the Web and destroy leftover copies of the print issue containing it.

A representative for Bauer had no comment, and a spokeswoman for Jay Z did not return a Newsday request for comment. Cohen, of Jericho, did not respond to a Facebook message.
