Comedian and game-show host Drew Carey has ended his engagement with fiancee Nicole Jaracz after more than four years together. It would have been the first marriage for both.
"He and Nicole still have a great deal of love and affection for one another," Carey's representative said in a statement. He and Jaracz have been raising her son, Connor, 6, from a previous relationship. "He will still be very involved with their son's life."
The once-portly Carey, 53, who starred in the ABC sitcom "The Drew Carey Show" from 1995 to 2004, credited the boy as a primary inspiration for his 80-pound weight loss in 2010. "I couldn't keep up with him," he told Parade magazine that year, recalling how he would be breathless and sweating after a few minutes of playing. "I'd be like, 'Connor, I can't,' and he'd say, 'C'mon, Dad!' That was a terrible feeling. I thought, I'm never going to see him graduate high school."
When the couple announced their engagement in October 2007, less than a week before Carey premiered as Bob Barker's successor on "The Price Is Right," Carey's spokeswoman said no wedding date had been set. Jaracz had just graduated from culinary school at the time.
