Responding to persistent rumors, actress and documentary producer Jada Pinkett Smith says she and Will Smith do not have an open marriage.

"I think people get that idea because Will and I are very relaxed with one another," she said in a video interview with HuffPost Live. When people, she said, ask her what she would do if he cheated on her, "My answer's always [that] I've always told Will, 'You can do whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be OK.' Because at the end of the day, Will is his own man. I'm here as his partner, but he is his own man. He has to decide who he wants to be and that's not for me to do for him. Or vice versa."

Pinkett Smith, 41, laughed when interviewer Marc Lamont Hill asked what it was like to be married to her, saying, "You would have to ask Will, but I'm sure it ain't easy!" She added, "Will's my best friend. . . . Even sometimes when the romance might go out, you look over and go, 'You still here?' . . . He's been by my side through some of the most difficult parts of my life. And so that's something you can never take away. A lot of other things, you never know, other things might change, what have you, but one thing is for sure: I love him deeply and he is my best friend."

The couple -- who fended off rumors in August 2011 that they were separating -- met in 1990 when she unsuccessfully auditioned for the role of Smith's girlfriend on his sitcom "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." They were married on New Year's Eve 1997 and their son Jaden was born in 1998, followed by daughter Willow in 2000. Will Smith also has a son, Trey, 20, from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino.
