Jamie Foxx recovering from unspecified 'medical complication'
Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx was hospitalized Tuesday but is recovering from his unspecified malady, the actor's family says.
The 55-year-old star's elder daughter, actor Corinne Foxx, 29, broke the news in an Instagram post from "the Foxx Family" Wednesday night. "We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery."
Corinne Foxx, the DJ on the Fox network's game show "Beat Shazam" that her father hosts, went on to say, "We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.”
In addition to Corinne Foxx, his daughter from a previous relationship with Connie Kline, the star, born Eric Bishop, has 14-year-old daughter Annalise Bishop from a previous relationship with Kristin Grannis.
Corinne Foxx did not specify her father's medical condition or the hospital’s locale. While some outlets have reported without attribution that Jamie Foxx was hospitalized in Atlanta because his current project, the Netflix movie "Back in Action," was scheduled to shoot there from March 28 to April 19, actors are not necessarily booked to be on set every day, or can finish shooting their own scenes and leave while production continues.
Foxx's representative told Newsday, "Nothing further is being provided from the family at this time."
Foxx — who won the best-actor Academy Award for portraying blind music star Ray Charles in "Ray" (2004) and was nominated for best supporting actor the same year for “Collateral" — has starred in films including "Miami Vice" (2006), "Django Unchained" (2012), two Spider-Man movies (2014, 2021) and, most recently, "Day Shift" (2022).
He announced the action-comedy "Back in Action" last June, with the surprise that Cameron Diaz, who had declared her retirement from acting in 2018, was also starring. The two had appeared together in “Any Given Sunday” (1999) and “Annie" (2014), Diaz's most recent film.
Directed and co-written by Seth Gordon, who helmed Foxx's 2011 comedy "Horrible Bosses," the upcoming movie shot first in London before heading to Atlanta. Its plot has not been revealed. Glenn Close and Kyle Chandler also star.
