Country-music star Jason Aldean has apologized to his fans following the release Sunday of photos depicting the married singer kissing former "American Idol" contestant Brittany Kerr.

"Hey Guys -- I wanted to talk to you directly, so you were hearing the truth from me and not just reading allegations made about my personal life on gossip web sites," the "My Kinda Party" singer, 35, wrote on his WhoSay.com page shortly after the pictures appeared.

"The truth is that I screwed up," he continued. "I had too much to drink, let the party get out of hand and acted inappropriately at a bar. I left alone, caught the bus to our next show and that's the end of the story. I ultimately ended up embarrassing my family and myself. I'm not perfect, and I'm sorry for disappointing you guys."

He concluded, "I really appreciate being able to work through this privately with my family and for all your continued support."

In photos posted by TMZ, Aldean -- father to daughters Keeley, 9, and Kendyl, 5, with his high school-sweetheart wife of 11 years, Jessica Ussery -- was shown cavorting with Charlotte Bobcats cheerleader Kerr, 24, at the Los Angeles bar The Den on Wednesday night. Kerr, a member of the NBA team's Lady Cats squad, appeared on "Idol" Season 11 last year, but did not make it into the semifinals.

By Monday, Kerr had removed her Twitter page following a barrage of scornful posts, although her Facebook page, with equally nasty comments, remained in place.
