Jeff Goldblum, wife expecting first child

Actor Jeff Goldblum has announced that he and his new wife, Emilie Livingston Goldblum, are expecting a baby, their first.

"We got married a couple of months ago," Goldblum, 62, said on "The Late Show with David Letterman" Friday, adding shortly afterward, "She's three months pregnant. . . . She told me the day before we got married that she was pregnant." The child will be a boy, he said, and noted, "Emilie picked out the name, as a matter of fact. . . . If it stays -- this is our current thinking -- Elliott Charlie. . . . Charlie's kind of a family name." Emilie Livingston, 32, briefly joined the dad-to-be and host Letterman onstage.

The couple married on Nov. 8 at the famed Los Angeles hotel Chateau Marmont after being together for more than three years. "Access Hollywood" reported at the time the rumor that they were expecting, citing an unnamed wedding guest.

Livingston Goldblum announced her engagement in July, tweeting, "Jul 8 he proposed @ our fave OK store," referring to the two-location housewares shop in Los Angeles. "I was taken over by tears of joy n ecstasy! We picked the ring 2gether #inlove." She later posted a photo of the engagement ring.

Goldblum, whose movies include "Independence Day" and two "Jurassic Park" films, and who appears later this month in the Johnny Depp-Gwyneth Paltrow film "Mordecai," has been married twice before, but has no children. From 1980 to 1986, he was married to actress Patricia Gaul, with whom he starred in "Silverado" (1985). From 1987 to 1990 he was married to Oscar-winner Geena Davis, with whom he starred in "Transylvania 6-5000" (1985), "The Fly" (1986), and "Earth Girls Are Easy" (1988).

Livingston Goldblum competed in the 2000 Summer Olympics, in Sydney, Australia.
