Jennifer Garner: Ben Affleck split ‘hasn’t been nearly as bad as you might imagine’

Jennifer Garner says fans’ support has helped her and her family through her ongoing divorce from Ben Affleck.

“People have been so, so kind to my whole family, and we really do appreciate it,” Garner 43, told Savannah Guthrie Wednesday on the NBC morning show “Today.” “But you know what? We’re doing really well. . . . The kids are great. And they’ll be getting up and going to school soon, and Ben is there and he’ll be taking them and we will make it work.”

She and Affleck, 43, who announced on June 30 they were divorcing after a decade of marriage, have three children: daughters Violet, 10, and Seraphina, 7, and son Sam, 4.

When Guthrie mentioned the difficulty of a breakup taking place in the public eye, Garner responded: “It’s not easy to go through it, period. I have found going through it in the public eye to be just another facet of it. For anyone, when your life shifts in any way, it’s tricky enough. But I have found people to be so warm and loving that it hasn’t been nearly as bad as you might imagine.”

Garner, who is doing publicity for the faith-based drama “Miracles From Heaven,” which also opens Wednesday, added, “I grew up going to church every Sunday, and Ben and I took our kids home to West Virginia to be baptized in my family’s church. And the thing about this film was it kinda encouraged me to re-engage in . . . not just believing but actually participating and raising my children so that they have the same background that my parents gave my sister and me.”

Meanwhile, Affleck, whose “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” opens March 25, said Wednesday on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” that he and Garner are “good friends, and we’re doing our best and our kids are fabulous, and we’re working our best for them.”
