Rapper Kanye West threw an elaborate 35th birthday party Wednesday for his expectant wife, reality TV star Kim Kardashian, with a movie preview screening and an odd request of the guests.

E! News said West, 38, brought Kardashian to the Cinépolis Luxury Cinemas at The Promenade in Westlake, California. She was surprised there with a screening of Universal Pictures' biographical drama "Steve Jobs," officially opening today, and a bevy of friends and family -- who were asked to wear faux pregnancy bellies provided for the party.

"My husband never ceases the [sic] amaze me!" Kardashian posted on Instagram, with a photo of a white, multitiered cake surrounded by roses and sporting a small sign reading "Happy Pregnant Birthday Kim." "He rented out the entire movie theater to screen the new Steve Jobs (It's sooooo good BTW) and had all of my family & close friends come dressed up as their best pregnant Kim look (fake baby bumps provided on arrival!) Not sure if that was to make me feel less huge or just a fun cool theme but I loved it & had the best time ever, feeling so very comfortable eating churros with a bunch of pregnant women! Just what I needed, the perfect chill yummy food birthday!!!!"

Sharing in the celebration were Kardashian's sister Kourtney; half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, the latter with her rapper boyfriend Tyga; mom Kris Jenner and her boyfriend Corey Gamble; and stepfather Caitlyn Jenner.

Kardashian's other sister, Khloé, who has been by the bedside of her hospitalized husband, former NBA player Lamar Odom, did not attend. She posted on social media, however, "Happy birthday, Keeks. You're not only my sister but my dope [expletive] best friend! I couldn't be more proud to call you my sister. The older you get, the better you get! Keeks, I love you like crazy. Thank you for being such a great supporter! Today is your day so do you baby girl!"

Their brother, Rob, also did not attend, but posted an Instagram photo of Kim and himself sharing takeout French fries, writing, "Happy birthday Kimburrrrr ,, thanks for always feeding me . . . cheese fries all day baby."
