Kate Upton, Justin Verlander welcome 1st child

Model Kate Upton and her husband, Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander, have welcomed their first child just three days after their first wedding anniversary.

"Welcome to the world Genevieve Upton Verlander," Verlander 35, whose team won the 2017 World Series, said on Instagram Saturday. Posting a black-and-white close-up of his hands holding one of the infant’s, he wrote, "You stole my [heart emoji] the first second I met you!!! 11.7.2018," he added, giving the birth date.

Upton, 26, cover model for the 2012, 2013 and 2017 issues of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit, posted a black-and-white close-up of the sleeping baby's hand near its mouth, captioned with the infant's name and birth date and a heart emoji, across all her social media.

On Nov. 4, the couple had marked one year since their wedding in the Italian region of Tuscany. "This year has been the best year of my life!" Upton wrote in an anniversary Instagram post, "It had a crazy beginning with a World Series win and the BEST wedding weekend, where I got to marry my best friend and love of my life. Now to celebrate our love and our first year of marriage we are preparing to welcome a new addition to our family." Verlander likewise posted a heartfelt Instagram message.

After more than three years of dating, the two announced in May 2016 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala that they had gotten engaged before the start of the baseball season.
